Sympetrum striolatum(Common Darter)

The Common Darter can be found near a variety of waters, usually lakes, ponds or slow moving rivers and is a quick coloniser of new ponds. Approximate length is 36mm. The adult male is red but females and immature males are orange brown. Both sexes have a yellow stripe down their legs. Flight times are June through to October or even November.
